The VCBW Craft Beer and Music Festival, presented by Go RVing Canada will be held at the PNE Fairground from July 9th to 10th 2022, with live entertainment, local arts, chef pop-ups and food trucks and of course a celebration of craft beer.

This year the festival is under new ownership who have recently announced that they will be implementing new RFID technology for the festival. This year the event will be totally cashless, with payment via an RFID wristband payment system. The organisers claim this is due to ‘logistical and health reasons’ on the FAQs of their website.

All guests will receive a wristband with their ticket to the event, they can then pre-load that wristband with funds to allow them to purchase food and more critically beer! VCBW claim that this is a 5 second process!

The event organisers have committed that any remaining funds on a wristband will be refunded to the ticket holder.

While it is a misnomer that money will be ‘loaded onto’ a wristband, but rather funds attached to that wristbands UUID in the backend database system, this trend for wristband payment at festivals is something which is becoming more prevalent.
